Dr. Mehmet Kobya
Dr. Kobya is a professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering at Gebze Technical University, Turkey. He obtained his B.S. degree in Environmental Engineering Department at Ondokuz Mayis University, Turkey. He obtained M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Environmental Engineering Department at Ataturk University, Turkey. Right after his graduation, Dr. Kobya become a faculty member at the College of Engineering, Environmental Engineering Department at Gebze Technical University in Turkey and since then he has been working at the same university. Dr. Kobya’s research has focused on advanced water/wastewater treatment processes. His research program in recent years has centered on the removal of organic and inorganic contaminants from water/wastewater using electrochemical processes, especially electrocoagulation and electroxidation processes that are coupled with other treatment processes. Additionally, he has been conducted research on the removal of organic and inorganic contaminants from wastewaters using adsorption processes.
Dr. Kobya has published more than hundred refereed journal articles in prestigious journals including Separation Purification Technology, Journal of Hazardous Materials, and Chemosphere. Dr. Kobya has participated in numerous projects funded by Turkish Scientific and Technologic Research Association, and other organizations on treatment of water/industrial wastewater. He is a member of the Turkish Water Pollution Control Federation. Dr. Kobya has taught undergraduate courses in process chemistry for water and wastewater treatment, electrochemical process for water and wastewater treatment, advanced wastewater treatment processes.
